PRESS RELEASE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MAINTENANCE MANAGEMENT IS A VIABLE & VALUABLE INVESTMENT

FOR ANY INDUSTRY SEEKING TO BEAT THE COMPETITION

NEW YORK…In today's competitive marketplace, the flow of goods and services to customers must not be hindered by obstacles such as maintenance downtime. As many companies are increasing their dependence on automation and decreasing their dependence on labor, they are becoming more dependent on physical assets, which, in turn, are dependent on solid maintenance. To stay on top, managers must implement strategies that keep operations performing at high levels.

What businesses gain by maintaining their physical assets diligently is Uptime -- the capacity to produce and provide goods and services. In Uptime - - Strategies for Excellence in Maintenance Management - 2nd Edition, authors John D. Campbell and James V. Reyes Picknell provide an updated and expanded version of their still popular first edition. Uptime - 2nd Edition provides successful strategies for maintenance management so companies can expand their ability to produce high quality goods and services quickly, and consistently satisfy their customers.

Uptime - 2nd Edition provides an overall review of what it takes to achieve excellence in manufacturing maintenance - a key business process in any capital intensive industry. It treats this technical topic in an easy to understand format and links it to a variety of seemingly disparate and competing concepts so that a single, simple strategy is formed. Updates from the first edition include current trends in technology, reliability maintenance improvements and the challenges of finding qualified maintenance personnel due to an aging labor force.

Uptime, 2nd Edition:

  • Contains a single simple strategy depicted by a pyramid containing 10 components for world class maintenance, arrayed in logical order.
  • Draws on the expertise and observation of the authors as maintenance management consultants.
  • Includes a number of updates to the original first edition, particularly in its discussion of computerized systems and support tools.

Managers, maintenance and non-maintenance professionals alike will find Uptime - 2nd Edition invaluable. Target industries that will benefit include those with heavy investment in capital assets - - plants, facilities and/or vehicle fleets -- such as: large scrap metal operations; open pit, surface and underground mines; large hospital complexes; Ivy League universities; oil refineries; airlines; thermal and nuclear power generation plants; gas transmission pipelines and stations; electric transmission and distribution networks; fertilizer plants; automotive plants; furniture and office equipment plants; pulp and paper mills; tissue converting plants; sawmills; plywood and engineered wood products plants; asphalt and cement plants.

"The second edition of Uptime is the most comprehensive overview of the art and science of maintenance management that I have found, and should be required reading for both students and seasoned professionals alike. -Dr. Peter F. Knights, Associate Professor

Apart from maintenance professionals, those who wish to know how maintenance excellence may contribute to business success will also find this book a good reference."
